A Peaceful World

Every year on September 21, the world observes International Day of Peace. Established by the United Nations (UN), this day serves as a reminder for individuals and nations alike to embrace peace and non-violence. When countries coexist harmoniously, people thrive with health and happiness, economies prosper and the world becomes a brighter, more joyful place. On this occasion, SCARLETT RODRIGUES asked a few RobinAgers what message of peace they would like to give to world leaders and people of other countries. Here’s what they had to say.

My message would be to the leaders of Israel. International Day of Peace stresses the importance of people and countries living harmoniously with each other. One should always accept people of different origins or backgrounds, as it helps maintain the bond of humanity. So, instead of diving into a battle, let us reconsider and keep the peace with all. May this day serve as a reminder of the power of compassion, love, understanding and peaceful coexistence.

On International Day of Peace, my message to the leaders and people of every country is that real power comes not from armies or conflicts but from understanding, empathy and unity. A president or prime minister has the responsibility to lead with humanity at the core of every decision. Peace is not just silence after a battle; it is the voice of justice, fairness and love being heard. If citizens prioritise dialogue over hatred and kindness over division, nations will rise together. It is important that we build bridges of understanding and friendship instead of fear. Peace should bind the people of our world.

As we celebrate International Day of Peace on September 21, I urge my countrymen to always live in peace and harmony. India has been a shining example of how people of different backgrounds can live peacefully with mutual respect for each other. The ideology of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, a Sanskrit phrase that means ‘the world is one family’, and ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’, which means ‘may all be happy’, is deeply ingrained in our hearts and so are the teachings of Ahimsa by Buddha, Mahavir and Mahatma Gandhi. We, the citizens of India, should stand like a firm pillar of strength to help our political leadership establish India as ‘Vishwa Guru’, which means ‘global teacher’, for peace and prosperity once again. Jai Hind!

I would like to tell the authorities of all conflicting countries, especially Israel and Gaza, that violence brings pain that can never be erased. It shatters the lives and hopes of innocent people and only leads to a cycle of sorrow. Fights between countries should be limited to armies and innocent civilians should not be affected. For countries that have a rich heritage like India and Pakistan, the uniqueness and differences of their culture and religion should encourage bonding and not division.

On International Day of Peace, I send my love to people all around the world and extend my support to Afghanistan. People of Afghanistan are still struggling with violence, poverty and lack of freedom, even after the big war officially ended in 2021. I wish children like me could smile and play with friends, go to school safely and live happily with family and friends. I hope one day all wars will stop and people will care for one another. My message to people is that we should hold hands in friendship across the world and promise to be kind and bring peace everywhere.

On International Day of Peace, I would like to say that peace means being kind and not fighting. If we share, help and smile at each other, the world will be happy. Just like friends in school play nicely, countries too should be friends. My message to India and Pakistan would be that they should settle their differences, be good friends and spread peace. Then everyone can live with love and joy.
