New research has proven that even parts of the Amazon Rainforest that are untouched by humanity are being impacted by climate change. Over the past four decades, the weather from June to November has been getting hotter and drier, which has led to a reduction in the size of rainforest birds, while increasing their wingspan.
The changes in the birds’ size are said to be due to nutritional and physiological challenges. To study this, more than 15,000 birds were observed from a patch of rainforest measuring a few acres. It was concluded that nearly all the birds had become lighter since the 1980s. Most of the species lost an average of 2% of body weight every decade.
