Scientists at Tel Aviv University, Israel, have discovered that animals respond to sounds let out by plants that are imperceptible to humans. According to scientists, distressed plants produce sounds that can be detected by creatures such as bats and moths. They observed that female moths chose healthy tomato plants to lay eggs and refrained from laying eggs on sound-producing plants. Scientists will further study the behaviour of other creatures in response to these sounds.
