Assam Discontinues Class 10 Board Exams 

The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced the discontinuation of class 10 board exams in the state from the academic year 2024.

The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced the discontinuation of class 10 board exams in the state from the academic year 2024. He also declared that the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will be combined in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Class 10 exams will be conducted at the school level and the pass-and-fail system will continue to be in place. Students who pass class 10 will not have to apply for admission into class 11. Board exams will be conducted for students of class 12 and students can begin preparations for classes 11 and 12 after finishing class 10.
