Bharatanatyam Dancer Rukmini Chatterjee Receives Top French Honour

Bharatanatyam dancer Rukmini Chatterjee was awarded the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres to recognise her contributions in the field of art and for strengthening the cultural relationship between France and India.

Bharatanatyam dancer Rukmini Chatterjee was awarded the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres to recognise her contributions in the field of art and for strengthening the cultural relationship between France and India. The honour was conferred on her by Thierry Mathou, the ambassador of France to India, at the Embassy of France in New Delhi in March. Chatterjee received her training in Bharatanatyam under the well-known classical dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai. She has performed at numerous festivals and popular venues across the world including the Maison des Metallos in France.
