Canadian Government Appoints Anita Anand as Treasury Board President

Canada’s former minister of national defence, Anita Anand has been appointed as the treasury board president by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a cabinet reshuffle.

Canada’s former minister of national defence, Anita Anand has been appointed as the treasury board president by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a cabinet reshuffle. The Indo-Canadian will work towards building Canada’s economy in her new role. Anand was only the second woman to serve as the country’s minister of national defence and the first Hindu to become a cabinet minister when she served as minister of public services and procurement in Canada’s government. Anand, whose parents hail from Tamil Nadu and Punjab, was born and brought up in Nova Scotia, Canada. In 1985, she moved to Ontario and was first elected as a member of parliament for Oakville in 2019.
