Celebrating the Year’s Win

The end of the year is a time when people reflect on their achievements and experiences. From improving an old skill to trying something unfamiliar, every step helps one grow. While some people are content with their accomplishments, others wish they could have explored more opportunities. SCARLETT RODRIGUES asked a few RobinAgers about their achievements this year and what they would like to do if they had more time. Here’s what they had to say.

So far, this year has been great. I managed to balance my studies with my hobbies. Among my biggest wins were finding ways to overcome my learning challenges and building new friendships. As football has been among my biggest passions, winning an under-14 football match has been another proud achievement. I also love crafting machines and car models with the help of Lego. Among the standout creations was a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) model that I made in September. I’m excited to build the latest Ferrari or Lamborghini Lego models in the coming months. If I had more time, I would like to participate in more football matches. I would like to master the sport by competing against teams from other schools. Before the sun sets upon this year, I would also like to improve my abilities as a goalkeeper.

The achievements that brought me pride this year are securing 86% in the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations pre-upper primary (PUP) scholarship exam, being selected for the Logiqids (LQ) Ideathon 2025 and securing the second place in school in the Logiqids Mental Aptitude Olympiad. I also enhanced my artificial intelligence (AI) skills by taking part in the online National AI Olympiad conducted by TalentSprint. Securing the fourth prize in an abacus competition held at the state level and successfully finishing the seventh level in abacus are other accomplishments that filled me with joy. I’m excitedly waiting for the result of the first stage of the Dr Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition for which I recently appeared. I’m gearing up for the second level of the competition and subsequent stages. I’ll also be beginning Vedic math lessons soon. I would dive into learning the guitar if I had more time.

This year, I set goals for myself and focussed on accomplishing them with determination. I had planned to read 15 novels in 2025 and I surpassed that number. Another noteworthy achievement is improving in Japanese. Now, I can talk and can even describe objects in the language. My accomplishments also include securing the third place in inter-house chess games that took place in school on sports day. The competition involved highly skilled chess opponents. Apart from this, I wanted to try painting on canvas with acrylics and successfully completed that challenge too. I have realised that it is important to focus on progressing and achieving my goals rather than just winning. Given more time, I would love to write a story.

This year has been filled with amazing wins that have brought me clarity and boosted my confidence. My overall performance, including attaining the highest-grade point average (GPA) across all classes in my grade, led me to be chosen as my grade’s class representative. I also excelled in Trinity College London’s ‘Theory of Music’ exam, achieving a distinction. This made me truly happy. This year, I had the chance to visit Bylakuppe in Karnataka. There, I had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with a Buddhist monk. This deep conversation inspired me to engage in self-reflection. I learned more about what matters in life, which helped me gain a clearer perspective. In my free time in the future, I would like to learn knitting as it involves concentration and steady hand movements. As I aspire to be a surgeon, this activity will help me. Additionally, I would like to explore baking as it includes creativity and experimentation.

This year, I improved my written and verbal French communication skills. I also won an award for a project in an interschool competition. With help from my school, my group members and I created a machine that operates with the help of AI. It serves people food and drinks. Our group did a good job. We bagged the award and received praise from many people, including other competitors and my peers. If I had more time this year, I would like to focus on reading the newspaper more often, as it would enhance my general knowledge and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, I want to improve in science and mathematics.

Though 2025 went by quite quickly, I have many magical memories of the year. New accomplishments and building deeper and stronger bonds with friends were among the highlights of the year. My interest and curiosity in various fields, including travel, music and space, deepened. Among my most noteworthy achievements are securing three gold medals in the Neltas competitive exam and winning a prize in the annual art competition held across Euro Schools. Additionally, I received a special mention at the Lions Club peace poster-making competition at the district level and had a remarkable experience through my participation in the Torrins’ Battle of the Bands. I would like to work on improving my guitar skills and engage in activities that help me get over my fears this year. Furthermore, I would like to connect with people of different cultures by exploring places such as Northeast India and Egypt.
