A United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) report revealed that at least 200 million schoolchildren from 31 developing countries are unprepared to learn via remote learning in case of emergency school closures in the future. Out of this, close to 102 million students from 14 countries went to schools that functioned partially during the COVID-19 pandemic but many received no education during the said period. Pre-primary education is the most neglected level of education. Countries like Benin, Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, Congo, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger and Togo are among the top countries that require improvements in their educational systems.
