A bird flu in Galilee has affected more than half a billion migrating birds that pass through the area every year as they head to warmer African regions. The migrating cranes that are getting infected with H5N1 are dying by the thousands, raising fears of a global pandemic. So far, over 5,400 wild cranes have died. Some carcasses of pelicans and egrets have also been found.
