  • To promote reading as a habit in India, HarperCollins Publishers India has introduced the ‘Read for Pleasure’ initiative.
  • The initiative extends through 2026 and involves activities that encourage reading, efforts to make books available to children from underprivileged backgrounds and efforts to expand the reading community. It urges readers to dedicate half an hour to reading each day, encouraging people to perceive it as a habit rather than an academic activity.
  • Along with reading for personal pleasure, the initiative also intends to promote reading to people of different age groups and as a group activity.
  • The effort is expected to enhance the reading culture across the country.

ACTIVITY: Reading Pledge Log

Make your own reading log.

What to do: We have created a 10-book grid for you. As soon as you finish a book, write the date and the bookʼs title and give it a star rating.

I pledge to read ______ books this year.

Stick this log on your worktable and send it to us at the end of the year.
