FOMO

Nowadays, everyone has the Fear Of Missing Out, popularly known as FOMO on social media platforms. Due to this fear, people feel insecure and are always anxious about missing out on something that’s viral on the social media platforms. People tend to constantly keep checking their social media to make sure that they are missing on nothing. This hampers their efficiency in their day to day activities because they become incapable of concentrating on their work and instead their mind is tempted to wander around the social media apps.

People want to make sure that they are catching all the trends immediately and/or reply to the messages as soon as they receive them. In the pursuit of this, people have very low levels of concentration nowadays.
To tackle this problem, it’s important for us to understand that it is absolutely alright to be offline sometimes. In fact, it is extremely important to cut off from the world for sometime and spend some time with oneself.

In the Ramayana, we find many instances where Lord Rama used to just cut off from the world and go away to some distant place to spend some time in solitude. He used to go away without telling anyone and he used to spend time in introspection and reflection. We too must draw inspiration from Lord Rama. If Lord Rama can go offline then why can’t we? We must understand that our absence on social media platforms for sometime won’t affect social media at all. Everything will work as normal.

Striving to reply to the messages as soon as they are received is merely foolishness. This desire keeps people hooked to their phone all the time. Of course there won’t be that important message which would need your immediate attention and if there is something so urgent then that person would simply make a phone call. But we should avoid the fear of missing out as much as possible.
