Forgotten

Saanvi Bhatia, Class 7, St. Anthony’s School, Udaipur

People sing the songs of their glory
But oh please! Spare me the cringe story
Lives were sacrificed! The sacrifice was forgotten
All we gave up went up in nothing! We as characters were forgotten
Lakshman, the good and devoted brother was remembered
But, I Urmila was not even important enough to be remembered
He was so devoted to give up 14 years of sleep of his life
Wasn’t I devoted enough to sleep away 14 years of my life
Still, he was remembered, I was forgotten
As seasons, come and go, I came and went
No mark, no name left on this Earth
Nothing left of me in this world ;
The world which had given me nothing but scorn and hurled insults
I, Gandhari gave up my ability to see;
Colours and landscapes were now just names to me;
My sacrifice was forgotten, I as a character was forgotten
I have understood this now
That stories happen, the world moves on
Remembering only the heroes forgetting us the: heroines behind the curtains. They remembered him; but I was forgotten
