Fun in the Sun

After the stress of examinations, children look forward to vacations to relax and unwind. This is the time when children take a break from their books to catch up with their friends, learn new skills and make new memories. From visiting new places to taking up new initiatives, children always plan for their vacations long before they arrive. SCARLETT RODRIGUES spoke to a few RobinAgers to find out what they plan to do this summer vacation.

I like to pursue my hobbies during my vacations. I love painting as it makes me feel very calm. So, I want to start an art club. Children of all ages can join this club and indulge in a variety of art activities such as painting, sketching and mandala making. The children who participate could write a few lines about their artwork. I could get the art framed and displayed in an art gallery or in our schools. I would also like to organise an art competition near the end of the vacation. I would try to get an artist to judge the entries of the competition. All the children would get prizes for participation and goody bags so that they are encouraged to pursue their hobbies. It will enhance children’s creativity and boost their confidence.

I am very eager to begin my summer vacation. I love travelling to different places. This year I have decided to record my experiences in a travel journal. Travelling gives us an understanding of various cultures and an opportunity to make new friends. Additionally, we can try new cuisines. It helps us make wonderful memories that we can cherish forever. This time, I will be visiting my grandmother who lives in Lucknow. I will click pictures and record my travel experiences in the journal. I also plan to make bookmarks and bracelets and sell them on a stall to earn a little extra pocket money this vacation.

This vacation, I wish to start a library in my area with the help of my friends and a cousin. We will go house to house to collect old books that are not being used. We will set up this library in our park so adults and children can sit and read comfortably in the midst of nature. We will also have read-aloud sessions for little children. Discussions will be conducted on the books read so that people can share their opinions with each other. We will also have a ‘wish list’ so that children can list the books they wish to read. With the help of our parents, we will buy two or three of these books.

I want to learn kickboxing this vacation. I want to stay fit and active. Kickboxing will help me defend myself. It will also help me think tactically and become alert. It will improve my coordination skills and make me confident. I will go along with my group of friends so it will be fun.

This vacation, I want to do everything I can to excel at football. I want to be as skilled as my favourite football players, Kylian Mbappe and Christiano Ronaldo. I have enrolled in a club to learn football and will also play with my friends. I also wish to master the skill of swimming by learning different styles and strokes. I would also like to go camping with a group so that I can make new friends and spend time in nature.

I can’t wait for my vacation to begin. This time, I want to visit many water parks. It is so hot during the summer and visiting water parks is the best way to beat the heat. I want to visit Essel World, Water Kingdom and Imagicaa Water Park. These water parks have many slides and rides. It is so much fun to come down a slide into the water with a splash. I will also learn to swim. Swimming is a good exercise and an important skill to learn.
