Garima Arora created history by becoming the first Indian female chef to be awarded two Michelin stars. ‘Gaa’, her restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand, was awarded a second Michelin star at the Michelin Guide Thailand Star Revelation 2024 on December 13, 2023. The Michelin star is a prestigious award in the field of culinary arts, which is bestowed upon restaurants offering the finest cuisine and service. In 2018, Gaa was awarded its first Michelin star, which made Arora the first Indian female chef to win the accolade, at 32 years of age. Arora opened Gaa, which serves a mix of Thai and Indian cuisine, in 2017. Before opening the restaurant, she worked with reputed restaurants such as Noma in Copenhagen and Verre in Dubai.
