Pakistan Appoints New Army Chief

General Asim Munir has been appointed as the army chief of Pakistan.

General Asim Munir has been appointed as the army chief of Pakistan. He replaces General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who was appointed to the post in 2016. Munir will be Pakistan’s 17th army chief since 1947. He started his military career in 1986. Prior to this, he held the post of military intelligence director general and chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency.
