Grades

Aarav Trivedi, Grade 8, Global Indian International School, Abu Dhabi

In school that one thing that we always chase,
Numbers and Letters are just like a race.
It’s nothing but the grades, some are big, and some are small.
Any idea if we are measured by grades at all?
Smiling faces with A and B,
What about the efforts that we all put in for that smile?
Many a time we shake, stumble, and fall,
Are these grades really telling us all?
Teachers and parents give us grades,
They do understand what we have gone through.
We are learning and growing each and every day,
However, only the grades will have a final say.
At 13, this is what I think.
Grades are like a story to me.
Why they are not showing any kindness to me, or not caring about me,
Why can’t the grades see what I dream of and what I am doing?
So, it’s important to remember while playing and learning.
Grades are a part of my way.
They don’t define me.
So, I am still learning and trying to do my best,
Believing my heart that it will do the rest.
Grades will come and go,
My love of learning will always grow.
