Inclusive Change

In our issue dated July 16-31, 2025, we asked you what changes you would introduce to make a school more inclusive and accessible for differently-abled students. Here are some of the best responses we received.

Rykah Agarwal, a class 3 student from JBCN International School Parel, Mumbai says,

These are the changes I would make if I was the head of the management team for differently-abled people.

  • Teachers would speak different languages so international students can understand.
  • Teachers and staff would speak sign language to deaf people.
  • All schools would have wheelchairs and allow students to attend classes in wheelchairs if their leg is hurt.
  • Teachers would be patient as a rule and treat people who have a mental deficiency with care and make sure they are on track.

Shivnaath Pradeep, a class 4 student from Horizon International Academy, Chennai says,

Inclusive Change

  • Get more area.
  • Give advanced wheelchairs.
  • Reduce steps to make more flat areas.
  • Hire expert teachers specialised in handling differently-abled students.
  • Treat the students with kindness.
  • Teach them everything very carefully.
