Daniel Mookhey, who was sworn in as treasurer of New South Wales, is the first politician of Indian descent to become treasurer in an Australian state. Mookhey’s parents immigrated to Australia from Punjab in 1973. Mookhey was born in Blacktown. He studied at the University of New England and the University of Technology Sydney and holds three university degrees.
