To reduce the weight of students’ school bags, the Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research has implemented the Integrated Textbook Scheme under which in each semester, students of classes 1 to 8 will carry only one textbook comprising all subjects instead of separate textbooks for each subject. All school subjects have been combined into a single book with blank pages for notes. Under this scheme, there will be four textbooks, one used for each semester, for students of Hindi, English, Marathi and Urdu mediums.
