A new species of cockroach that belongs to the Nocticolidae family has been discovered in Singapore. The species has been named Nocticola phermosa after the Pokémon Phermosa that appeared in the seventh part of the Pokémon video game series.

The newly discovered species lives on land, has a small body with long wings and is the first recorded cockroach of the Nocticolidae genus to be found in Singapore. Though the exterior of the cockroach is similar to that of a known species, scientists figured that it is a new species after dissecting it.
