Scientists in USA have discovered a new blue-green colour, which has never been encountered by humans in the past. For their experiment, scientists made use of lasers to stimulate certain retinal cells of participants, leading them to experience an unfamiliar colour. The participants described the colour as being profoundly saturated, unlike any colour visible in daily life. Scientists have named this colour ‘olo’ and believe that it could enhance their understanding of colour blindness. However, this hue cannot be recreated unless certain stimulations are applied on the eye.
