To help people determine the efficiency of solar panels and make the right choice during their purchase, the Indian government has come up with a Standards & Labelling programme for solar panels. Under this scheme, solar panels will be given star labels based on their efficiency and quality, so that consumers can make a well-informed decision while purchasing a solar panel. All solar module producers have been encouraged by the government to get themselves empanelled under the programme, thus ensuring improvement in the quality of their products. The programme will be voluntary from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025, after which the government might make it mandatory.
