A circular issued by the Haryana government instructed students in schools across the state to greet each other and the school staff with ‘Jai Hind’ instead of ‘good morning’ from Independence Day onwards. The goal of this change is to inculcate a sense of discipline, patriotism and unity among students. Through this directive, the government also aims to remind students of the contributions of India’s freedom fighters and motivate students to contribute towards the nation’s progress. According to authorities, this new greeting will also inculcate a sense of pride for India and its heritage among students.
