Night Thoughts

Om Mandloi, Class 9, Dhirubai Ambani International School, Mumbai

Night expands like ink in water
slow, dark, unstoppable
my ceiling collects my doubts
and projects them like films
each worry becomes a shadow
that grows teeth in the silence
I listen to my heartbeat
counting it like fragile truth
sometimes fear has no shape
just a weight on the ribs
the room feels too still
thoughts race too loudly
but I breathe in slow courage
the kind that does not boast
I remind myself of morning
how it always returns
softening everything I feared
I rest inside that promise
knowing darkness is temporary
and I will rise again.
