School Is Cool!

After a long and fun-filled summer break, children look forward to a new academic year. Learning new skills, making new friends, discovering hidden talents and creating new memories are some of the many reasons children eagerly wait for their school to reopen. SCARLETT RODRIGUES spoke to a few RobinAgers to find out why they are looking forward to going back to school this year.

This year, I will not only be going to a new class, but also to a new school! I am looking forward to making many new friends in my new school. My previous school did not have a playground and extracurricular activities, so I am looking forward to new experiences this year. I will get to experience many fun playground activities. I also want to be a part of the school choir and dance group. My new school has many new amenities that I would like to explore. I want to learn chess and participate in chess tournaments. The classrooms are very big and airy. I will have new teachers and will learn many new lessons. I can’t wait for the new academic year to start.

I am looking forward to the reopening of my school so that I can meet my school friends. We love talking and sharing our lunchboxes with each other. This year, I also wish to join the school’s football team. My sister plays hockey and I admire her. I want to be an athlete too. This academic year, I have pledged to study harder and secure better marks than the previous year. I also like drawing and crafts and look forward to improving my skills.

I am looking forward to making new friends this year. I am open to learning and I hope to learn different things from different people. I enjoy everything about school including the bus journey with my friends. People in my friend circle speak different languages. My friends teach me their native language and culture and in return, I teach them mine. The teachers in my school make teaching fun so I cannot wait to get back to school and learn interesting facts. I cannot wait to see new and familiar faces in my class. I also wish to explore my abilities by participating in different activities.

This year, we will be introduced to some new subjects including physics and history. As we did not have these subjects in class 5, I am extremely excited to study them. History fascinates me as we learn more about the old world. I want to increase my participation in sports. We also have various clubs including dance and drama. I wish to be a part of the dance club this year and I will also take part in the annual day programme. We are learning shading and monotone drawing in art class, which I am excited about. I am also eager to learn programming and editing during computer class. But most of all, I am excited about meeting my friends. Recess time is the best as I visit my friends in other classes and sometimes, they come over to visit me. When I look at class photographs of the years gone by, they remind me of the fun we had. I wish to create many more beautiful memories.

I am excited to go back to school after two long months of vacation. Nothing beats the excitement of going to a new class, meeting the new class teacher and having fun with my classmates and new friends. This year, I will continue being a part of the scouts and guides group. I want to participate in extracurricular activities like classical dance and karate. I want to be more active physically and will participate in more sports activities. I will also concentrate more on mathematics this year as I am a little weak in that subject. I am excited to take up all the challenges the new academic year brings.
