Sense in Stillness

Arundhati Agarwal, Class 7, Samashti International School, Hyderabad

I drift above the rooftops, weightless and free,
Emotionless, unburdened—nothing else but me.
I think I should start reflecting on my choices up here,
Yet a blankness spreads before me, unsettling and queer.
It settles all around me, a cocoon of solitude,
Urging me to reflect, not sit in aimless brood.
And slowly, the dullness thins away like a fading mist,
Making room for happiness I didn’t know I’d missed.
Then I feel it—a sudden burst of joy,
Simple and pure, like a child with a toy.
There’s a moment when realisation truly dawns:
Life is a journey—no need for constant mourns.
The ache once heavy and brimming with regret
Shifts into something brighter: purpose and passion met.
I feel ready now to step back into life again—
No drastic change, just living with less restraint.
