Shirish Chandra Murmu, who worked as an executive director with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has been named the RBI’s deputy governor.
Shirish Chandra Murmu, who worked as an executive director with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has been named the RBI’s deputy governor. Murmu took charge of his new position in October, replacing Rajeshwar Rao, who held the role previously. Murmu works along with three other RBI deputy governors and will contribute to the bank’s core functions in his new role. He gained experience in administration, policy development, regulatory compliance and other functions during his career at RBI. He will serve as a deputy governor of the institution for a period of three years. Murmu belongs to the Santali tribal community from Odisha.
