Researchers at the University of Washington, USA, have developed a ‘thermal earring’, an earring that can detect a person’s body temperature through the earlobe. A temperature sensor that can detect body temperature is fixed to the user’s earlobe with the help of a magnetic clip. The earring also comprises a hanging sensor that measures the room temperature. The earring has a battery life of 28 days and it can be customised with designs based on the user’s preference. It is more accurate than smartwatches and can be used to track wearers’ eating habits, stress and physical activity.
