A unique new species of frog has been discovered in the Ukaguru Mountains in Tanzania, Africa. Named Hyperolius ukaguruensis after their place of discovery, these frogs do not produce any sound.

The frogs belong to a group called spiny-throated reed frogs and are only around 2.5cms long. This species has smaller eyes in proportion to its head and the male frogs have a throat with small spines, which scientists believe they use to communicate and recognise each other.

Did You Know?
Frogs do not need to drink water as they absorb it through their skin.
