Surekha Yadav, the first female loco pilot in Asia, created history by becoming the first woman loco pilot of the Vande Bharat Express.

Surekha Yadav, the first female loco pilot in Asia, created history by becoming the first woman loco pilot of the Vande Bharat Express when she operated the train from Solapur to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on March 13. She was honoured on CSMT’s platform number 8 after completing the journey of over 450kms. Yadav became India’s first female train driver in 1988 and won multiple laurels for her accomplishments. She also piloted the Mumbai-Pune Deccan Queen Express on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8.
