Engineers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, have developed a robotic arm that can play table tennis smartly, with accuracy and speed. The robotic arm uses a regular paddle and its wrist joint is designed to enable effective paddle movement during play. It is engineered to monitor the ball’s movement and execute numerous swing styles. It is capable of delivering shots at around 68kms/ hr. The arm is attached to a standard ping pong table and employs high-speed cameras and other technology to function.
