Tanay Jain, an 18-year-old boy from Kolkata, is the co-founder of a non-governmental organisation called Onaya Foundation, which is engaged in upcycling textile waste.

Tanay Jain, an 18-year-old boy from Kolkata, is the co-founder of a non-governmental organisation called Onaya Foundation, which is engaged in upcycling textile waste. The organisation was launched in 2018 to encourage environmental sustainability. Through its initiative called ‘Katran’, Onaya Foundation upcycles textile waste into clothes that are donated to underprivileged children. The organisation has also provided employment opportunities to people from underserved communities who help in stitching clothes. Tanay is an alumnus of St James School, Kolkata. He has undertaken various efforts including social media initiatives to raise awareness about upcycling among the public.
