Persephone leaves for the Underworld,
Demeter cries in woe,
In sadness and grief,
She doesn’t allow plants to grow.
It is time for winter to arrive,
Then why sit and sulk?
There’s snow everywhere,
Let’s make a snowman as tall as the Incredible Hulk.
Houses and roads, trees and rivers;
All covered in dazzling white powder.
The little ones come out to play,
Their laughter getting louder.
Bears and squirrels go to bed,
And miss all the fun,
When everything shines like diamonds,
Under the winter sun.
It’s time for Christmas,
And all is merry.
Snow covers the Earth
Like a very cold accessory.
The crunch of the snow,
The chirp of a bird,
The kids play games
That are fun yet absurd.
Winter has arrived,
Pretty and white; harsh and cold.
Thanks to the Fairies and the Elves,
The world is a beautiful sight to behold!
