The Most Exhausted You Have Ever Been

Priyana Jain, Class 10, Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane

O Lord, you know I’m tired
O Lord, you know I’m tired
I’m tired of all the sleepless nights
The dark circles under my eyes, the eternal pit of emptiness

O Lord, you know I’m trying
O Lord, you know I’m trying
I’m trying to call out for help
The clamour inside my head overwhelming my cries of protest
A prisoner to my mind

O Lord, you know I’m going to fall
O Lord, you know I’m going to fall
Fall into an abyss of tension, of expectations
Fall into a restless slumber
Jostled awake, pushed into tedium

O Lord, you know I’m recovering
O Lord, you know I’m recovering
Recovering from the bruises of anxiety
Recovering from the scars of apprehension
I’m sure this world is done with me
O Lord, you know it’s an accordance with reality.
