The Significant Republic

Swamini Bokey, Class 6, Shashvat Consept School, Amravati, Maharashtra

77 years ago we didn’t receive rules we received a promise; a promise of justice, liberty and equality.

Our constitution gave us the freedom to dream big, the power to shape our future and the responsibility to make our nation proud.
Now, I asked myself “what is my role today?” As a student I am the nation’s heartbeat. Every time I support what is right I am practicing justice. Every time I respect a classmate despite our differences I am practicing equality. I am not just a student, I am the builder of the nation’s tomorrow. My actions today are the country’s future.
We celebrate Republic Day on 26 January but not on any random date.

This is because are brave leaders came together and asked for a promise a promise of ‘Purna Swaraj’ a promise of complete freedom, which was said to us on 26 Jan 1930, despite that we were still following the British laws. So Dr. B. R Ambedkar wrote the constitution of India, though he finished writing the constitution in late November 1949, but he waited till 26th January 1950. To honor that old promise of Purna Swaraj. This reminds us that in India we don’t forget our history or the words we have said.

To my country I give my best with courage in the heart and soul to the test.

One mission, one vision and one tricolor bright
Leading us forward with wisdom and light
I am the future of India and proud to say
I love India every single day.
