The Unhappy Panda

Madhukari Chandra, Class 4, Mahadevi Birla World Academy, Kolkata

One day a young panda was walking home from school. His name was Pampu. He was starving but he didn’t eat anything. His mom prepared bamboo soup and served that to him instead of the food she originally prepared for him. Still, he refused to eat. Everyday at six pm, he goes out to play with his friends, but today he didn’t go. The next day, his aunt who was really smart asked him whether he was sad or not over and over again until he reluctantly nodded. She asked him why he was sad. He replied “I am the only panda in this school.

All my friends are dogs, cats, chameleons or colourful parrots. I am also the only student who has black and white fur. Therefore I get bullied a lot.” His aunt thought for a while and said “did you know one of the teachers in this school is a panda. Her name is Ms. Naiya. You’ll meet her next year.” “Really” he said, jumping up and down. His aunt nodded. When it was lunchtime his mom was surprised to see him eat. His aunt told her what had happened. His mom said “did you learn a lesson?” He said “I learnt that I should be happy with what I have.” “Good” his dad said. And after this he regretted nothing.
