The World of Magic

Harry Potter, a popular series of books by British author JK Rowling, has captivated readers of all ages with its dynamic characters, magical elements, interesting plot twists and stories of bravery. With its first book released in 1997, the series is centred around the life of Harry Potter, an orphaned boy, who embarks on a wizarding journey, fighting dark forces that seek to destroy him. The novels feature complex characters that make the story immersive and relatable. With International Harry Potter Day being celebrated on May 2, SCARLETT RODRIGUES asked a few RobinAgers to create their own Harry Potter characters. Here’s what they had to say.

The character I would add to the Harry Potter series would be a boy called Zane Carter. The Harry Potter books are full of magical creatures. However, there were only a few people who could communicate with them. So, Zane would have the rare gift of connecting and communicating with creatures such as Hippogriffs and Thestrals. Zane would be sensitive and his abilities would go beyond just communicating with the creatures. He would also be able to sense their needs and emotions, developing a strong connection with them. This would enable him to calm aggressive creatures.

I would like to introduce myself as a witch named Virora in the Harry Potter series. Virora would be a Potterhead but would have no experience in wizardry. This character would want to experience the world of magic and add some mystery and adventure to the story. She would be a tall girl who plays different sports, with a willingness to learn new arts and cultures. She would be shy but very loyal to her friends. She would love music and writing short stories. She would be good at casting the invisibility spell and would be able to pass on an electric shock through her wand.

I would add a character named Sera Aurelian. This character would support Dumbledore’s Army. Sera Aurelian would be wise, calm and empathetic. She would fiercely protect students, ensuring their safety. A skilled duelist and tactician, Sera would play a crucial role in the Battle of Hogwarts, using her magic to protect others. She would be an expert at transfiguration and mentor Harry and his friends. She would help everyone. She would keep Dumbledore’s Army a secret and also assist Professor McGonagall in handling the school.

I would add a pale, blonde-haired boy named Finn to the Harry Potter storyline. This character would be part of the Slytherin house and would be the cousin of Draco Malfoy. What would be outstanding and inspiring about Finn would be that despite being part of a house and family that was influenced by the Dark Arts and Voldemort’s beliefs, he would be brave enough to choose the right path and support Harry. He would take Harry’s side though everyone around him discourages it. Though Finn belongs to Slytherin, he would be part of Dumbledore’s Army and the Order of the Phoenix. He would be part of the good side in the Battle of Hogwarts. His character would show us that Slytherins are not always malevolent and can be ambitious, resourceful and determined go-getters who are fun to be around.

The character I would add to the Harry Potter series would be similar to Zazu from ‘The Lion King’. Zazu cared about the wellbeing of Sarabi. I would name the Harry Potter character Zephyr, inspired by Greek mythology. The word stands for an airy essence or breeze. Zephyr would constantly watch over Harry, warning him of impending events and dangers. However, he would be invisible and would remain undetected by Harry’s classmates and teachers. He would be audible only to Harry. This unique creature would act like a guardian and would be a gift from Harry’s ancestors. It would help Harry avenge his parents’ death.

I would introduce a character named Valen Holloway. Initially, Valen would support Voldemort in his quest for power. However, he would later get overwhelmed by the destruction and darkness of Voldemort’s evil. With knowledge of Voldemort’s weaknesses and ideas, Valen would eventually assist Harry Potter in his intense battle against the evil wizard. His decision would be driven by a deep connection with Harry. Voldemort’s goal to create a world dominated by pure-blood wizards through fear and evil would motivate Valen to switch sides. However, Valen would be permitted to meet Harry only three times, offering him guidance in his fight.
