Young Innovators: Aayan Chopra

A teenager from Gurugram named Aayan Chopra is helping flour mill owners in Uttar Pradesh through his project called Project Surya Chakra. Aayan’s efforts involve enabling flour mill owners to run their mills with the help of solar energy. Aayan observed the challenges faced by mill workers and owners whose mills relied on generators powered by diesel. These generators not only troubled people with their loud noise, but also polluted the environment. This encouraged Aayan to begin his effort. With the assistance of a non-banking finance company called Metafin, in which he interned, Aayan set up flour mills that run on solar energy, decreasing fuel expenses.
