A group of researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has devised an environmentally friendly technique that addresses the problem of denim waste. Professor Abhijit Majumdar, along with another professor, headed the team that devised the procedure, which creates knitted garments from denim waste. This recycling method ensures both quality and softness. It keeps fibres strong and employs a softening technique to ensure that the garments created are comfortable. According to researchers, this process can be employed to tackle other textile waste as well, effectively mitigating its environmental impact.
