Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has collaborated with The Green Billions Limited (TGBL), a sustainability solutions provider, to set up India’s first solid waste-to-hydrogen plant at Hadapsar Industrial Estate in Pune. PMC and TGBL have entered into a 30-year-long agreement for the establishment of the plant, which aims to produce 10 tonnes of hydrogen by 2024 by treating 350 tonnes of solid garbage daily using plasma gratification technology.
The plant will be set up at a cost of ₹430 crore. The project will decrease landfill dumping and emissions from the disposal of waste. It will also produce hydrogen, which is the fuel of the future.
