Rahat Rai, a graduate of Ravensbourne University, UK, has designed slippers from vacuum cleaner dust, highlighting the use of waste materials that are often deemed worthless. The material for the pair of slippers was made using a procedure known as felting. The material was further heated to get rid of bacteria and other impurities. A special stitching technique was employed to enhance its strength and latex was applied to its borders. Rai is working towards enhancing the material.
