To explore India’s geothermal potential, the National Geothermal Energy Policy 2025 has been launched by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Through this policy, the government aims to use geothermal energy effectively, working towards its clean energy objectives.
The policy seeks to discover new geothermal sites and utilise geothermal energy for a variety of purposes, such as agriculture, food processing and the production of electricity.
The policy promotes the employment of modern technology, research and partnerships within India and internationally. It also facilitates the reuse of abandoned oil wells for energy production.
