Have you ever seen a sheet of white paper with a few stains on it?
Have you ever seen a sheet of white paper with a few stains on it? The first thing that catches our attention is the stains. Sadly, we fail to see the rest of the paper, which is white, clean, untouched and still an opportunity to craft something beautiful.
Just as we fixate on the stains on the paper, sometimes, we tend to focus on our weaknesses rather than our strengths. We dwell on our mistakes, rejections, fears and embarrassments, often overlooking our talents and uniqueness. However, we should remember that these flaws are just small aspects of a much bigger picture. Similar to the white part of the paper, which holds promise, we too have special talents and admirable qualities that should be celebrated.
We are a blend of the comfort we give our loved ones, the talents we use to make people happy and the bravery we show when trying again, after a failure. These quiet elements make us special. Every person holds within them the potential for growth, discovery and greatness. Sometimes, a shift in focus is all that’s required.
This Children’s Day let’s choose to focus on our positive qualities and on enhancing our strengths. This could mean joining an art class to nurture your love for art, trying new things to figure out what you are good at, deciding to be a better listener or just being more helpful. Giving attention to what makes you unique helps you grow confident and happier. And remember, when you are happy you spread happiness to others too.
