In today’s modern world, people enjoy many things that make life easier and more comfortable. We have cars to travel faster, factories that produce goods quickly, air conditioners to stay cool and plastic items for everyday use.

But, this has led people to disturb the environment by polluting it. They use cars and trucks and dump non-biodegradable waste in water bodies and on land! Have you ever wondered why the environment is polluted by the people? The answer lies in the quest to progress. Use of better technology and increased use of goods are all signs of progress, but they also bring harm to our environment.

Cars and factories release smoke and harmful gases into the air, which leads to air pollution. This makes it harder to breathe and can cause health problems like asthma. Plastic, though useful, is often thrown away carelessly. It does not break down easily and ends up in rivers, oceans and on land, harming animals and polluting our water. Cutting down trees to build houses and roads also leads to deforestation, which affects animals and causes climate change. These are the hidden costs of convenience.
