Scientists at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China, have innovated a new system to produce electricity with the help of rain. They have created a device called water-integrated droplet electricity generator (W-DEG) that floats on water and provides an economical and effective method of generating electricity. Similar devices developed by scientists in the past employed expensive elements. However, in this newly developed device, water is a crucial aspect of its framework, functioning as its electrode and base, making it simple and cheap. This device floats on water and produces electricity with the help of raindrops falling on it, providing an eco-friendly energy production technique.
