To reduce wildlife-related accidents, special markings have been introduced by the National Highways Authority of India in an ecologically vulnerable area in Madhya Pradesh.
These markings have been created on part of the National Highway 45 where animal movement and crossings are common. They aim to bolster animal protection efforts, especially in areas such as the Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve.
These markings are red in colour and are designed to be a little elevated, forcing drivers to slow down as they drive through this area.
They are designed to let drivers know that they are heading towards a zone that is rich in wildlife, guiding them to drive with caution.
