  • China’s 45,000km-long high-speed rail network has benefitted from the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The rail network, which is the world’s largest, is being operated by an AI system in Beijing.
  • The system gathers and processes a huge amount of real-time information from across China and is capable of intimating maintenance workers and engineers of any issues within 40 minutes.
  • The system possesses an accuracy level of around 95% and operates efficiently, according to engineers. It enables maintenance teams to identify problems before they occur and conduct repairs promptly.
  • China’s high-speed rail is the fastest in the world. The Chinese government plans to expand the rail network, which currently functions at 350kms per hour, to ensure better connectivity across the country.
