Archana Atram scripted history by becoming the first female bus driver for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Atram, who belongs to MSRTC’s Pune division, drove the State Transport (ST) bus from Saswad to Nira in Pune, Maharashtra. The position of bus driver was only reserved for men until recently. 100 women including Atram were selected by MSRTC for the position of driver in the year 2019 but their training remained incomplete due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Atram is one of six female drivers who recently completed their training. She belongs to Sarkani village in Maharashtra’s Nanded district.
