Dev Shah Wins US National Spelling Bee

Dev Shah, a 14-year-old boy of Indian origin, won the 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee, an annual spelling competition held in USA.

Dev Shah, a 14-year-old boy of Indian origin, won the 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee, an annual spelling competition held in USA. He won the finals of the competition held in Maryland, USA, by correctly spelling the word ‘psammophile’. He competed against 14-year-old Charlotte Walsh from Virginia in the last round to win the competition. The contest comprised 231 students from elementary and middle school. Dev, an eighth-grade student at Morgan Fitzgerald Middle School, Florida, had participated in the contest in 2019 and 2021 where he tied for the 51st spot and 76th spot, respectively.
