Art History: The Last Supper

In this three-part series, AMRITA GANERIWALLA, a class 12 student of Bombay International School, Mumbai, throws light on three of the world’s most famous paintings. The final painting in the series is The Last Supper.

The Last Supper, commissioned by the Duke of Milan Ludovico Sforza, was painted during the Italian High Renaissance by Leonardo da Vinci. It was painted between 1495 and 1498 for the Dominican monastery Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. It is a fresco in the convent’s refectory or dining hall.SIG
